HUDSON — Tuesday evening, the Hudson ISD board of trustees held a special meeting to name a lone finalist, Scott Martindale, as the district’s new superintendent, replacing the retiring Donny Webb. Webb, who has spent 28 years working in Hudson ISD, has spent the past eight of those at the helm.
Martindale has served as the superintendent of Gunter ISD, north of Dallas, since 2021. According to a Hudson press release, he has served in educational leadership positions since 2013.
73% of Gunter voters approved a $78.8 million bond to construct a new elementary school and a storm shelter under Martindale’s tutelage, according to the release.
“Mr. Martindale has demonstrated a commitment to student success with a collaborative and innovative approach to problem-solving which aligns perfectly with Hudson’s values and vision for the future,” the release read in part.
Board president Katie Baker called the meeting to order at 5:59 p.m. with all members present. Trustee Reagan McClenny gave the invocation.
Kristi Webb, the superintendent’s wife, spoke in the open forum portion of the meeting. She thanked the board for its support of her husband and its professionalism throughout the search for a new superintendent.
“Thank y’all for your hours of service and for dedicating your time to volunteering, serving the students of this district,” she said.
The board unanimously approved naming Martindale the lone finalist for the superintendent position. The district must observe a mandatory 21-day waiting period before finalizing Martindale’s hire per state law.
“I’m proud of y’all for seeking God’s wisdom and guidance throughout this entire process,” Webb said to the board.
